POSSIBLE TREASURE. NEEDS IDENTIFYING.

ANY HELP IN IDENTIFYING THIS ITEM. NOT A VERY GOOD PICTURE. IT IS MEASURED IN CENTIMETRES. IT IS SILVER WITH GOLD GILDING AND PROBABLY ONCE HELD A STONE IN THE MIDDLE. THERE ARE TWO KNOBS ON IT, ONE AT EACH END. THERE ARE ENGRAVED RADIATES COMING FROM WHERE THE STONE WOULD HAVE BEEN. THE SIDES SEEM TO BE BROKEN OFF. IT CAME FROM AN AREA TO PRODUCE MEDIEVAL ATRIFACTS AND COINS IN THE PAST. ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL.

Hi Si,

A nice 14th to 15th century artefact. Try Geoff Egan on gegan@molas.org.uk for identification.

THANKS FOR THAT. I WAS THINKING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ORIGINALY MORE ROUND IN SHAPE WHEN COMPLETE. I PRESUME A PIECE OF JEWELLERY OR BROOCH.
